"Bottom line: A refreshing re-telling of the Beauty and the Beast story that will remind you why you love a well written Traditional Regency romance."

As a single woman, Isabella lives with her widowed cousin, Mrs Weston. Isabella likes to read novels; Mrs Weston likes to read Improving Works. For an excerpt from one of these Improving Works, Sermons to Young Women, by James Fordyce, which was extant in the Regency period, please click HERE. (FYI, it was from Sermons to Young Women that Mr Collins read aloud when he visited the Bennett family in Pride and Prejudice.)
Isabella has a long history of saving homeless animals. The kittens that she rescues during the course of Beauty and the Scarred Hero are based on a litter of stray kittens I looked after and rehomed a couple of summer's ago. For more about the kittens (including photos!) click HERE.
The North American edition of Beauty and the Scarred Hero is now available only as an eBook from Harlequin (here). The Australian/New Zealand paperback edition was released in October 2010 and is available from Mills & Boon Australia (here). No release date yet for the UK.

Major Nicholas Reynolds returns from the Battle of Waterloo a hero. Once, his rakish good looks ensured he had his pick of beauties, but now his scarred face has lost him a bride and earned him the name 'Ogre' among London's ton.

Lady Isabella Knox--from whose lips the name 'Ogre' accidentally originated--is horrified by the cruel gossip surrounding Nicholas and is determined to restore his standing in Society.

But a few stolen kisses later this beauty knows she's lost her head--and her heart--to the most notorious gentleman of the ton...

Major Reynolds was an officer in the 95th Rifles and fought during the Napoleonic Wars. He survived the carnage of Waterloo (for a first-hand account of that battle and its aftermath, go to The Earl's Dilemma page). His experiences during the battle of Badajoz and the subsequent sacking of the town are mentioned several times in Beauty and the Scarred Hero, but aren't described in detail. HERE, though, are some short excerpts from an eye-witness account written by Harry Smith, who fought at Badajoz.
